I am wondering what everyone here is doing for tracking serial numbers for products that are drop shipped or that are not stocked. Syncro does not appear to have a place to even manually input serial numbers. How do you keep track of serial numbers inside Syncro and how does it flow over to your invoice for payment?
We ask the client to send us the serial numbers. If they don’t or it takes too long, we let Syncro create an automatic serial number. We add the word “Auto-” in front of it to remind us it was not the actual S/N.
Would like to see a quick way to make the sold item into a Syncro unmanaged asset. Say you sell a UPS unit. Then that item (with a check box to initiate it) would auto magically be created as UPS unit for that customer. We could map fields from the Products page ahead of time for each item if you wanted it.
I was referring more to reselling items that already have an SN (such as a PC). When this item is re-sold, I would like to have a way to add the SN somewhere in the system where it would also flow into the invoice for the customer. I asked support but it didn’t seem like there was an easy way of doing this other than manually typing SNs for each line item on the invoice.
As for your UPS example, that would certainly be cool!
When creating the Product, on the right side, checkmark “Serialized”. Then when you add a product to a ticket, it will say it doesn’t have it, “Pending 1”. You click that and then create a PO for it using your actual order information. When the product comes in, you “Check-in” the item on the PO. This is done by adding the S/N to the line item and clicking Receive. It will then ask if you want to fulfill the item from the ticket. If you do, it links that S/N to that ticket. I use this all the time and it keeps track of things accordingly.
If I’m drop-shipping something with a S/N, it will generally have the S/Ns on the packing list and/or invoice and I use those. If it is a PC, then I can get it from Syncro once it is onboarded. Or, at a minimum, I ask the client to send a picture of the S/N from the box/device.
