Hey everyone! We have just released a big update to our new mobile app for both iOS and Android. This adds a brand new (searchable) Assets tab that supports running/scheduling scripts, remotely accessing the devices from your mobile device, and exposes information like an asset’s hardware inventory. It also supports custom assets as well!
Here is quick video showing this functionality in action:
It would be great if you found a less annoying video host than YouTube. It refuses to play videos if I am not signed in. I wanted to watch the video to see if it would shed some light on why the remote control wasn’t available on my Syncro assets, but when attempting that, I get the following result instead.
Yes, it’s included free with Syncro so you all could theoretically get rid of TeamViewer if you wanted to. That or run them in tandem and use ST for remote access sessions when on mobile.
I prefer my TeamViewer subscription because it works well and has consistently met my needs since 2012. Until they release Linux native software, Splashtop is not an option that I can even consider. I appreciate the clarification, though.
It’s not any inconvenience, because, face it, trying to control a PC desktop session from a phone screen is always rough at best. I have access to the TeamViewer Remote Control app on Android if I really want (or need) to partake in such in experience.
(For those who may be considering suggesting running Splashtop under WINE: thanks, but I am not interested in that. My current remote access strategy meets my needs.)
Got it. Yeah it’s great in a pinch of a phone, and lots of folks run with tablets so it would work there as well. But if TV works for you all no harm no foul. It’s a decent product as well.
Those are not currently planned. Our core focus is for techs on site working their managed services agreements. So ticketing, time tracking, asset management, scripting, remote access and things of that nature are the core focus at the moment. Never say never, but in the grand scheme of things we aren’t looking to recreate the entirety of Syncro into our mobile app.
You will, however, always be able to access the web app in full from a mobile device should you need access to those items.
