I don’t know where Discourse forum feedback belongs, but it seems that someone broke the always annoying tile layout in a manner that ensures it is even more in the way than usual.
Weird it doesn’t do that for me. Is anyone else seeing this?
Have you tried clearing your browser cache?

I see it as well, but not every day. Best described as most days.
Some days, there are no blanks and everything is normal.
Please let me know if this appears resolved for you on your end now.
The square icons no longer exhibit the unusual spacing. I now see 4 rows of 5 followed by a row of 2.
