Archiving Assets

Whats funny is there are 2 other threads over this as well xD so more than a dozen.

I think they are moving towards more use of the tag system… but it is taking a long time to do so…

We’re looking to do proper asset archiving likely this year. I don’t have more detailed ETAs on that, though.

What is a simple work around to archive an asset? Create a new policy under the customer called “archived assets”? Rename the asset, ‘Retired 10-2024’?
Or screen shot the asset specs, file save to OneDrive under the client, then delete the asset?

I do what you said about creating a new policy folder. I rename them by appending Archived if a former client, Retired if a current client but we don’t expect to see it online again, or Inactive if it’s on a shelf for an indefinite period of time.

This would be a great feature. Staff often will start investigating a computer that is within a retired policy folder as it does not show up as retired in the Assets & RMM tab. Our work around is to adjust its friendly name with an appended Retired, but it is not ideal.
