Ping directly from Syncro

Currently I’m using a cloud hosted VM to do basic ping checks against firewall WAN interfaces and websites. It’s less than ideal. It would be nice if we could use the Syncro instance itself for basic ping tests, instead of needing it to come from an agent.

I use Ubiquiti’s UNMS (now called UISP) in a VM to get outage notifications and ping times. You don’t need to use their hardware to use the app for that feature.

I am pretty sure you can do this under an asset, System Checks. add check then choose ping.

@derek.adams that check is executed from an asset though. OP wants to be able to ping WAN IP’s without it coming from an agent.

@tyler Syncro acquired Watchman in Q4 2021, but that seems to be mostly agent based as well, so I’m not holding my breath on the feature you want coming into the Syncro platform.

We use Site24x7 to check WAN status as it gives us performance trending as well as status. I’ve seen colleagues use the solution suggested by @chris-RCT too if you want to self-host.
